I remember one incident when I was in India and went into a restaurant for dinner. At the restaurant, there was a rule that if a customer leaves some food uneaten, then the same food is not thrown out, instead it was packed and given to the poor people either by the restaurant owner or by the customer himself or herself. I also faced the situation when some of my food left, and the owner took the food to give it to the poor people with no food to eat. The restaurant was saying it as corporate social responsibility to not waste the food and distribute it to the poor people. But at this moment I was in dilemma that how can we distribute leftover food to other people. If the hotel wants to do corporate social responsibility than why does not, they offer free fresh food (not leftovers) to those people?

But then I researched into this problem of leftover food wastage, and I was shocked to see that 30% of the food in US is thrown away each year (“Worldwide food waste”, n.d.). This led me to think deeply on the topic to find out some solution for the problem and then I decided that from the next time I will not order too much food as it results in lots of food wastage (Intagliata, 2020). Also, I will suggest the restaurant owners and managers to lower down the quantity of food that gets wasted more based on the past data of food wastage. This will help in lowering down the food wastage and will help the customers in cutting cost on food that can be used to order fresh food for poor people, instead of leftovers.
