What businesses are doing is that on one side they are increasing the pollution through factory wastage and increased use of transportation, and on the other side, they are doing CSR by planting trees and doing other social activities. This is a dilemma situation for me that whether businesses are doing the right thing or not? Is it right to first pollute the environment and then clean it?
After thinking of the situation deeply, I concluded that in this fast-paced world, it is not possible for the businesses to produce the goods and services without pollution because the ecological methods of production are very slow and does not match the speed of the demand of the present world.
In this research I found that there is a positive relationship between the business pollution and CSR. As the business pollution increases, the business increases the CSR activities even more to lower down the pollution level in the environment to some level. This way the businesses, business pollution and CSR works. So, the more CSR activities a business is performing means that most probably the business is polluting the environment more. Further the CSR activities helps the businesses in many other ways. It helps the businesses in increasing their reputation among the society, the employee retention also increases as the business is doing more for the society, the community relationships of the business also improve. This way overall we can conclude that CSR is good for the business, environment, and society. (Sheridan, 2020)
