The ethical dilemma  I have been in my recent days were I had to make a decision  at my workplace. One of my colleague was getting threatened by his supervisor to get extra work done or will have to leave the job. I was in dilemma that should I report this scenario to HR or not because my colleague was not allowing me to report as he might loose job but on the other hand his supervisor was unethically threatening him.

 • Shall I report this instance to HR so that corrective steps could be taken against the supervisor who is unethically extorting my colleague in order to get praise from the clients. He is getting his own work done while enjoying his vacation and getting is work done by my colleague and threatening him to terminate.

• The issue in raising the concern is breaking the hierarchy. As per the company guiedelines, an employee can raise the concern regarding his immidiate supervisor or his hierarchial department only. If I will raise the compaint then I will be questioned that the employee itself didn’t raised the complaint while he was suffering.

• But I believe that as per ethics, I should report this to maintain the ethical culture in the organization. I have the responsibility to report this to HR so that corrective steps could be taken

• The dilemmas were too difficult to choose as one point there was my job and on the other hand it was my friend’s job on verge. Hence, I chose ethical decision and reported the instance to the HR regarding this. I decided this as if we will not report this instance, in future this would be happening with every other employee.
