“If you plagiarize others’ techniques, you steel their emotions and tell your spectators a lie with your work. Works as such equal zero.” -Wu Guan-Zhong
Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or idea as your own, with or without consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgment. Different types of plagiarism include global plagiarism, patchwork, incremental as well as self plagiarism. Personally, I was not much aware about the plagiarism before. But now as I am studying I am much more aware about the consequences of plagiarism.
I think the main reason for this is lack of knowledge and ability to acknowledge others work. Many of us face plagiarism because of fear of taking risk in our own work. We do not have enough confidence to show our ideas to everyone. Moreover, when we plan poorly and did not take enough time for the research we end up with nothing but to plagiarize. Everyone wants to achieve full grades so they started alterations, paraphrasing the stuff to achieve the marks which is not good at all because grades are not everything. Learning of the course is a must because sometimes in some cases people who scored less grades in schools and colleges are more successful because they have learned something and using the experience in real life. Many of the students do not know that how to integrate the ideas of others and write it into their text it is because of lack of learning.
Now I believe that learning about academic principle is mandatory. While brain storming it is necessary to develop your own ideas and conclusions from the source and give proper citations if any other person is reading they can check themselves by looking to the references. It is all about improving the academic skills to make work good as it can be.
