Climate change is no longer a threat that will be felt in the future, some of its consequences are already being felt. The frequency of disastrous weather events such as hurricanes, fires, floods, droughts, excessive heat, and extreme cold is rising as global temperatures continue to rise. In addition to having a direct impact on the people, these consequences have a significant influence on the economy as well. Despite the fact that the worst expected effects of climate change are still decades away in the future, certain financial risks related with climate change and climate change mitigation activities are becoming increasingly immediate in nature.
There are other negative repercussions of climate change, such as the melting of glaciers as a result of increasing temperatures. As a result of the consequences of climate change, glaciers and ice are melting, which will result in a rise in the sea level. Using fewer plastic products and driving fewer vehicles are the two most important things I can do to help mitigate climate change in my lifetime. The single most important thing that we as a society can do to combat climate change is to research and implement the use of alternative energy sources, rather than relying on fossil-fuel-based energy sources.
The approach developed by Kotter may be used to deal with this problem. The eight-step process entails the active engagement of companies in order to address this issue. According to Kotter, effective leadership may make a significant difference in combating this. For the global community, multinational corporations and society’s three major groups, namely the general public, governments and the private sector, to become aligned on climate change, its causes, what solutions are available and what these solutions entail is the solution. Influential groups, such as the academic and scientific communities and the media, can help to facilitate this alignment.
