According to BC Centre for Social Enterprise, social enterprises are revenue-generating businesses with a twist. Whether operated by a non-profit organization or by a for-profit company, a social enterprise has two goals: to achieve social, cultural, community economic, and/or environmental outcomes; and, to earn revenue.

Foundry is a non-profit organization, and a province-wide network of integrated health and social service centers for young people ages 12-24. In the city of Terrace, Foundry is operated by the Terrace District Community Services Society. I know that all of us may not be aware of this organization which is why I am interested to share it with all of you. Foundry’s vision is to transform how young people access health and social services throughout British Columbia. Foundry centers provide a one-stop-shop for young people to access mental health care, substance use services, primary care, social services, and youth and family peer supports. They also have a new program now which they call “Foundry Works”, and this program is designed to assist youth who are experiencing barriers to employment and education. Foundry believes that young people should have a voice in their care and that finding the right support shouldn’t be difficult. (Foundry,2022)

This organization has indeed good intentions for the youth. We, ourselves know that it is really hard to face challenges alone, what more with the youths who are vulnerable. In fact, we cannot deny that when we face challenges, we are looking for support from other people, and if we cannot get any solution, we tend to break down and lose hope. For me, the services offered by Foundry to all of the youths will really help them improve their life and mental health. It will give them motivation to always look at the brighter side, and it will make them feel that people are there willing to help them in any way possible so they will not feel alone.
