In this scenario, I am an auditor of boutique accounting and financial management firm. Emily is an intern. She is doing a great job but she is very dependent. She always ask me what to do and cannot decide on her own. I need to explain everything to her before she can fully understand what to do. I must also tell her what to do before she do something. She is a graduating student this year and planning to make me as her reference. I really don’t know if I will say yes or no.
This dilemma can be solve by approaching her in a nice way, using proper and encouraging words to say. Through this I can make a heart to heart talk to her. We can talk all the issues and things that she must improve. I will be direct to the point and talk to her honestly. I will point out the things that she needs to improve and and tell her that she must have a self confidence to become productive and enthusiastic in our job. I’ll also teach her the important things to do in our job. Also, teaching her the techniques and different strategies that she can do or apply when we are working. She must first learn to work on her own before she can make me as one of her reference and must be ready to have a job before I say yes to her.
This ethical decision making framework will really help and guide us on how to response, react and act on different dilemmas that we might encounter. It help us decide between right and wrong. This will make us improve and make us act and think accordingly or properly in any circumstances that we might encounter in the future.
