Environmental and economic integrity are fundamental to sustainability. Generally, CSR is the practice of all the business companies that have positive impact on the society or community. Over the last seven decades, CSR has been defined as a distinct discipline. Still, the majority of companies are lag behind for developing a purposeful, balanced, and successful approach to CSR excellence (Latapí Agudelo et al., 2019). It has become necessary due to the global pandemic caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus. Many organisations were unable to accurately assess the long-term impact their efforts had. United Nations’ 17 SDGs provide this framework of SDGs as a suitable CSR strategies for the business (The 17 goals | sustainable development).
Nowadays, the current outbreak of Coronavirus has brought into sharp focus the necessity of corporations’ CSR initiatives. Some companies use their core values to serve the communities but some stay remain on limited scope. Even if they make short-term gains now, this kind of short-term profit-taking might harm their brand and reputation in the long run. Companies have been forced to select between aiding society and concentrating on their survival during the epidemic.
With the help of the SDGs, some corporations have found a way to reconcile their interests with those of society. An example may be an investment in stock returns or an investment in the prevention, protection, intervention, and rehabilitation of COVID-19 (Asante Antwi H; Zhou L; Xu X; Mustafa T; 2021). Consequently, a company’s profile and employee engagement may be enhanced by a well-executed CSR programme while also advancing the SDGs.
Overall, SDGs play an important role to achieve the CSR strategies for the business for a long term prespective.
