Have you ever heard the word Greenwashing? What is really meant by Greenwashing?
Well, Greenwashing is a deceitful marketing strategy that mislead customers who wants to purchase products that are environmental friendly but in reality they are not.
There’s a huge difference between green marketing and green washing. When a company sells environmentally and socially conscious products or services, it is referred to as green marketing. It is practical, honest and transparent.
There are lots of company that are claiming that they brand was eco-friendly. This is the reason why the British Government and other organizations was raising the awareness of the consumers about Greenwashing. I remember about the claims of a certain automotive company saying that their cars are eco friendly but in reality it is not. They even cheated while doing a technical test to measure the emissions of diesel engines. This is the reason why they want companies to be accountable for this kind of actions.
Many consumers must check first if the product that they are planning to buy are eco friendly to help prevent the climate change that we are experiencing, that is why we need to pay attention and carefully read the labels of the product before buying it. We must also be familiar with what ingredients to avoid. Like in buying cosmetics there are certain ingredients that we must avoid. We also need to check first the labels that are claiming they are eco friendly but they are not.
