Upon reading an article about Tom’s Social Responsibility, I was amazed on how the founder Mycoskie being inspired on what he saw during his trip to Argentina where he saw extreme poverty, health conditions and children walking without shoes to came up with a company mission. Tom’s shoes were founded in 2006 by Blake Mycoskie and have a mission “for every pair of TOMS shoes purchased online or retail, the company will provide a pair to a child in need. One for One”. Which I found it a great idea especially on these trying times that we need to help and care for each other. Through their mission we were able to be a part in helping the needy to improve their lives by patronizing their product, both the consumers, company and the society will be benefitted by this mission. The company is not only focuses on giving a shoes to the needy but also helping them in their medical treatments, provide safe drinking water and their products are environmental friendly. The company is using recycled materials for their packaging and using organic cotton and recycled polyester in making their shoes. “We’ve given away over 100 million shoes in the first 14 years, and I’m even energized about being a part of the second chapter of Toms.” ( Wedhammar. M) In the year 2021, they launched their new slogan, “1/3 of Profit for Grassroots Good” where in they are no longer be donating shoes instead it will invest those funds for grassroots good including cash grants and support for organizations building equity in marginalized communities through promoting mental health, increasing access to opportunities and ending violence. This strategy is worth to support on, as a consumer you will be buying a quality product and at the same time helping people. We need this kind of generosity as we start to recover in this pandemic, it is  important to take good care and help each other to rebuild the health of our community.
