Starbucks is a coffee house which is known as world’s largest company and it has spread in all over the world. It offers coffee, smoothies, beverages and sandwiches etc. The interesting fact is the amount of caffeine in the coffee is 4 times more than from a red bull. This concept of business was started in France from 18th and 19th century. After that, it became a famous brand and expanded like a fire in the global market and now we have Starbucks in every corner of the world.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Many companies do some practices in the support and welfare of society. Starbucks social responsibility considers as best strategy which focuses on three pillars and the pillars are community, following ethics and take care of environment. Also, Starbucks have some goals like they will purchase their coffee by ethically trade which supports to those who are involved in the processes of growing coffee, like farmers. Starbucks want to do fair trade by providing some credit opportunities to farmers for pre-harvesting activities. It will not only helpful for farmers, it will help them to create more yields to grow more coffee. Moreover, they are committed to provide coffee with quality. Also, they committed to society by providing eco-friendly products.

The main focus of Starbucks is to do fair trade and grow more coffee on reasonable prices and help the farmers. So, this is only they doing for their business. However, they should pay their responsibility among environment by improving their recycling policies.

Greenwashing

Starbucks announced that they are going to use straw less cups with lids to avoid the use of plastic. However, this is leading to consume more plastics because a lid of cup contains more plastic than straws and traditional lids. Starbucks is using paper cups which is recyclable but only 10%. The idea of straw less cups is a strategy to attract environmentally conscious customers.

Recycling

Starbucks is doing efforts to adopt more effective ways for reuse , reduce and recycling their cups. For this, they use paper cups to avoid plastic, selling Stainless steel cups in their stores to reuse their cups and also they are using paper cups which can be recycle and compost.

Strengths

Starbucks has a strong image of brand and loyal customers. They are supporting to farmers for the pre-harvesting activities. Moreover, they are taking care of environment by using paper cups which are recyclable. They are collaborating with other companies to reduces the competition like Walmart.

There is no doubt that Starbucks is doing good in Corporate Social Responsibilities, but they can do some more efforts to save environment because their main focus is to create more profit by providing help to farmers, attract customers by using paper cups and avoidance of tax by doing small efforts.
