Patagonia manufactures more than a third of the world’s clothes and footwear. The Coalition has created an index of social and environmental performance that designers may use to make better judgments when building products or selecting materials in a short amount of time. It was one of California’s first benefit corporations in 2012, which means the values that made our company successful are now enshrined in our legal charter. Now is the right time for Patagonia to take the next logical step: expanding outside the apparel and outdoor industries. Patagonia today announced the creation of a $20 million internal fund to assist like-minded, environmentally conscious start-up enterprises. However, patagonia has donated one percent of their sales to grassroots environmental organisations every year for the past 30 years. We were instrumental in the formation of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition. With the help of this fund they start making new holding company with the name of patagonia works

Rose Marcario, President and CEO of Patagonia Works and Patagonia, Inc., has helped us triple our profits. She’s also starting new enterprises in five key areas, including clothing, food, water, energy, and waste, using her business acumen and great sense of social and environmental responsibility. Rose was instrumental in the launch of Patagonia Provisions, which will soon include items other than smoked sockeye salmon. Environmentally, the food industry, like the textile and petroleum industries, is a mess. It depletes the world by taking more than it returns. We want to work with nature rather than against it to get what we want to eat.
