Patagonia manufactures more than a third of the world’s clothes and footwear. The Coalition has created an index of social and environmental performance that designers may use to make better judgments when building products or selecting materials in a short amount of time. It was one of California’s first benefit corporations in 2012, which means the values that made our company successful are now enshrined in our legal charter. Now is the right time for Patagonia to take the next logical step: expanding outside the apparel and outdoor industries. Patagonia today announced the creation of a $20 million internal fund to assist like-minded, environmentally conscious start-up enterprises. However, patagonia has donated one percent of their sales to grassroots environmental organisations every year for the past 30 years. We were instrumental in the formation of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition. With the help of this fund they start making new holding company with the name of patagonia works
Rose Marcario, President and CEO of Patagonia Works and Patagonia, Inc., has helped us triple our profits. She’s also starting new enterprises in five key areas, including clothing, food, water, energy, and waste, using her business acumen and great sense of social and environmental responsibility. Rose was instrumental in the launch of Patagonia Provisions, which will soon include items other than smoked sockeye salmon. Environmentally, the food industry, like the textile and petroleum industries, is a mess. It depletes the world by taking more than it returns. We want to work with nature rather than against it to get what we want to eat.

The post is really informative and the data in it provides a lot of knowledge about Patagonia Inc. I would appreciate if the blog was more about how Business ethics has helped Patagonia to reach the stage of success they are at now. The write up should have been more elaborative in the sense that created more impact on the audiences about the use of business ethics and how they can help a simple idea to grow as a business tycoon. As the data suggests the Patagonia Inc. has always focused on creating value over wealth and this idea could have been focused upon more in this blog.
The idea of the blog should have been to provide information about business ethics not about the Patagonia Inc. The data selection has been good but could have been more focused upon values rather than profits. The reference selection is great and helped me learn more about the topic. The Patagonia Inc has always been a great inspiration for other businesses to learn more about business ethic implementation. Overall the matter is good but I felt it was out of the context it was made for. I have cited some references for more detail about the topic.

Hello Vishal,
Your blog is quite informative as I have never heard of a company named Patagonia and when I researched about it, I understood the idea of sustainability by design and how it has the potential to improve the product safety and prevent pollution. I never thought that fashion could have bad effects on our surrounding environment. From your post I understood that Patagonia Inc. has applied this idea in its business practices to do better and reached up to this milestone as we know today.
One thing that I found most interesting is that Patagonia provides free fixation and repair services to old and worn-out clothes. The worn wear program of Patagonia allows the customers to buy second-hand Patagonia products which encourage them to purchase used clothes which would eventually reserve the environment’s sources from which the products are created. Moreover, the company has shifted towards the usage of 100% renewable and recycled raw materials which has brought a revolution in the textile industry. Patagonia uses 100% renewable electricity in the US and 76% globally (Wolf, 2021). This alone could save a huge amount of energy. Patagonia has pledged to become a carbon-neutral company until 2025. Going even further, they are working on becoming a true zero waste company (Vermum, 2021). Going zero waste is a revolutionary step and it would be great to see how Patagonia improves itself even more in the coming future and inspire other business corporations to adapt this idea of Sustainability by Design in their business models.
